Name: The Badshahi Mosque (royal mosque)
Constructed: The Badshahi Mosque was constructed 1673 during Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb.

History of Mosque
The Badshahi Mosque (masjid) was built 1671-1673 during the great Emperor Aurangzeb. Aurangzeb was the sixth ruler of Mughal's Emperor (reign was1658-1707). July 1799, Sikh army attacked on Lahore and the control of Lahore City along with Badshahi Mosque (masjid) was taken over by the army of Sikh under the chief Ranjit Singh. After taken the control, Ranjit Singh used the mosque as stability of army's horses, built small rooms for study, quarters for the soldiers, military stores and Hazuri Bagh (hazuri garden) as official royal court for the people. In 1841, Sher Singh (son of Ranjit Singh) also used the Badshahi Mosque in different purposes.
British Rules
In 1849, British Government has used it as past but demolished different areas of the building which used for the anti-British activities. 1849 to 1947 when British Government realized the increasing resentment of the muslim against the usage of Badshahi Mosque as military purpose, British set up Badshahi Mosque Authority and hand over to all management to the authority for re-established it as religious worship place. The Royal Mosque needs maintenance from different places and the Sikandar Hayat Khan accept the task of funds for this noble purpose.
Structure
The building of Badshahi Mosque is so amazing and historical and the mosque was listed in the list of UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1993. More than three hundred years it was listed as the largest mosque in the world before the Faisal Mosque (masjid) constructed in Islamabad. Presently The Badshahi Mosque (masjid) is the fifth biggest mosque in the world.
Domes & Towers (Minars)
Badshahi Mosque has three big domes and these domes were decorated with white stone. These stones were fitted in very stylish curve way that shows the great skillful Ancient Mughal's Architecture. Badshahi Mosque has eight towers (minars). Four big towers (minars) and four small towers (minars). Four large towers are located on the edges of the mosque and the height of each tower is approximately 180feet.
Courtyard
Badshahi Mosque has a large courtyard (approximate 276000 sq-ft) which accommodate more than 60,000 people worship at a time. Courtyard is made with red sandstone that specially brought from Jaipur, India.
On the eastern side, from main entrance of Badshahi Mosque, beautiful stairs leads to main gate can be seen from three sides.
The main hall of prayers is so amazing and surprising for the tourists because of its unbelievable designing on the walls and roof (everywhere) of old time (mughal's time period). The main hall of prayers can also accommodate thousands of people for worship at the same time.
In ancient time, Ravi River flowing between Minar-e-Pakistan and The Shahi Masjid. Food Street, Minar-e-Pakistan, Lahore Fort and many others famous places located near The Badshahi Mosque that is one of the beautiful places in Pakistan.
